A Decade of Escape: Celebrating 10 Years of Breakout Manchester!
Can you believe it's been 10 years since Breakout Manchester first opened its doors and unleashed a wave of puzzle-solving excitement across the city? It's true! Since 2014, we've welcomed countless teams of friends, families, colleagues, and thrill-seekers into our immersive escape rooms, and we're incredibly grateful for the journey and to everyone who’s ever played at Breakout.
A Look Back at Breakout's Journey
It all started with a simple idea: to bring the exhilarating world of escape rooms to Manchester. We wanted to create a space where people could bond over a thrilling challenge, test their teamwork skills, and experience the satisfaction of cracking cryptic codes and escaping just in the nick of time. Our first site was located next to Manchester Town Hall on Brazennose Street and in total it had 5 escape rooms. It’s crazy to think we now have over triple that number of games!
Over the years, we've grown alongside our amazing community. We've expanded our range of escape rooms, offering themed adventures for all difficulty levels and interests. From deciphering the secrets of The Forgotten Tomb, to working out who killed Mr. Black in Unsolved to infiltrating a Banks Vault and stealing the jewels and money, we've strived to create unforgettable experiences that push your limits and spark your imagination. Our most popular themes are either Detective Games (of which we’ve had 4 over the years) or horror rooms which have totalled over double figures.
We are continuing to expand our Escape Game offering with our most recent room in Manchester being the widely successful Murder on the Dance Floor in 2023!
Liverpool, Chester, USA, Sri Lanka, New Zealand, A Cruise Ship and many more beyond.
In 2015 Breakout expanded to Liverpool and then to Chester in 2016. In addition to this and a fact we’ve kept pretty secret until today, Breakout has sold their designs to 21 different countries around the world! (For those who are interested the countries are USA, Canada, Peru, New Zealand, Australia, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Israel, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Tunisia, Sri Lanka, Luxemburg, Greece, Sweden, Denmark. France, Ireland, Netherlands, England, Wales).
We are also located on TUI Marella Cruises ship – Discovery and have been for the past 8 years!!!

We've witnessed countless birthday celebrations, team-building exercises, family bonding moments, and even marriage proposals (yes, you read that right!) inside our escape rooms.
